About me

I grew up in Melbourne and, like a lot of kids, all I ever wanted was a furry friend to play with and to go on adventures together. After graduating from cuddly little mice to a beautiful black and white cat, Cosmo, I finally got my dream of owning a German shepherd dog, Chewie — the handsome guy you’ll see in the photo.

Although Chewie is no longer with us, he made a lasting impression on everyone he met, left a lifetime of wonderful memories, and inspired my passion in photography. We grew up, found our feet in the world, and worked our way through a move to another city together. Picking up a camera and capturing special moments for other people is my way of keeping those memories bright and alive.

I’m fortunate that photography is a pure passion for me, so I get to shoot my favourite subjects, work with great people, and always keep it a fun and lighthearted experience. When I’m not behind a camera, you might find me working in and around the science community or somewhere in the bush on an Army exercise.

My partner in crime and A-grade animal whisperer! Brooke grew up surrounded with animals, spent twelve years working as a vet nurse, and was absolutely irreplaceable when Chewie was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in his final years. She is deeply passionate about animal welfare and you couldn’t dream of a better person to help guide animals around a photography session.

During the week, she is a superhero neuroscientist, helping to improve the lives of children with neurodevelopment and movement disorders. She’s too humble to call herself that though, so I’m not letting her read this before publishing it. We met while studying our PhDs together, mine in physiology and hers in neuroscience, and after she spent two weeks getting up at 6 am to cook scrambled eggs (because of a misunderstanding) while dog-sitting when I was away with the Army, I realised she was something special!

Brooke is also an Australian native animal superhero, helping to rescue sick and injured native wildlife as a WIRES Rescue Volunteer.
